FTV has just launched its own calendar and the Mauritius Tourism Board has also come up with a ‘Miss India’ calendar. And for a social cause it is none other than Bollywood poster boy Shahrukh Khan who decided to pose for a calendar on breast cancer awareness. Cotton couture

For loyalists of the fabric, when it comes to comfy, wearable clothes, the buck stops at cotton. Crisp and cool in summer, it’s often stashed away during winters. Also when it comes to formal evening wear, the fabric gets thumbs down for being too dowdy. This myth needs to be broken.

The Venice of the East

The houseboats of Kerala have become one of the most exciting tourism products in India. These huge barges, traditionally used to cargo goods, are called Kettuvalloms and measure up to 80 feet in length. The endless panorama of greenery intertwined by sapphire backwaters, and a delightful rustic life makes Alappuzha a favorite holiday destination. The intricate network of canals that snake their way through the vast expanse of paddy fields, give Alappuzha the sobriquet of Venice of the East. By virtue of its proximity to the sea, the town has always enjoyed a unique place in the maritime history of Kerala. Alappuzha is an important backwater tourist centre, attracting several thousand foreign tourists each year. The district is famous for its boat races, houseboat holidays, beaches, marine products and coir industry.
