Indian retailers are planning tie ups with foreign players. At the same time, Indian groups are expanding- making inroads into the global markets. The luxury business is focused on niche product segments and customised service to target groups.

Shopper’s Stop may tie up with Macy’s
Shoppers stop is expected to tie up with US retailer for fashion apparel, Macy’s Inc.
However, there is no confirmation from either party.
Industry sources also say that shoppers stop is planning a rights issue of up to Rs 500 crore ($125 million) to fund its expansion plans.

Luxury purveyor Rose group heads for Dubai
Mumbai-based group, Rose Salon, is planning a global foray. Their first outlet is expected to open in Dubai, later this year. Rose Salon plans to take Indian luxury brands abroad.
At Mumbai, Rose Salon is known for catering to 3500 top end Indian families by appointment only. The salon has jewellery, watches and lifestyle accessories. It helps its clients for their personal shopping as well as advising and sending gifts on their behalf.
They deal in luxury, affordable luxury and fashion segments, where prices range from Rs 25,000 to 1 million.

Delhi mall for high-end goods only
Delhi will have Emporio - the first exclusive mall for high-end goods at Vasant Kunj in south Delhi. The mall is expected to be functional by end 2007 and top Indian fashion houses are expected to be present there.
Mumbai will have its exclusive luxury mall by 2008 with recreational lounges and international designers.
