Surya Funcity Limited to diversify into hospitality education

After making its presence felt in the hospitality industry, Chandigarh-based Surya Funcity Limited will now diversify into the education sector. The company plans to start an Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Tangori in the Mohali district of Punjab, by 2009. It will be affiliated with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for the same.

In this regard, it has formed a society, Surya Education Society that consists of four to five company members. The institute will be spread over an area of about four to five acres at Tangori in Mohali, Punjab. Surya Funcity has approached the AICTE for about 60 seats in hotel management and 60 seats for the MBA programme. After that, the company will introduce other short courses like programmes in F&B, housekeeping and confectionery, with affiliation from Punjab Technical University (PTU), Jalandhar.
