  • Quality of coal is poor due to high ash content therefore coal washeries to be set up to improve quality
    • CO2 emissions will reduce from 0.983 to 0.866 kg per kilowatt hour
    • Savings in transport as extraneous material would be removed
  • In 2003, India was ranked 14th worst by World Resource Institute for Carbon Intensity of Electricity production
