In fact, 90% of the durries available in European and American markets are woven in India. The export of carpets from India increased a whopping 42.33%, from US$ 654.32 million in the year 2004-05 to US$ 930.69 million in the year 2006-07. Between April and October 2007, Indian carpet exports reached US$ 404.74 million, making the country the global leader in export of carpets, with a 36% share of the global market.
