Health care Infrastructure has grown phenomenally in the past few years in India. On one end are privately run super specialty hospitals and on the other end are hospitals and services for the marginalized sections.

Urban India has super-specialty hospitals and clinics-start up initiatives triggered by big players in medical health services, to meet the increased demand for quality services in urban India. The demand is not just for medical services but also for more comprehensive services on par with International hospitals. One such example is Cradle, a modern international quality maternity hospital supported by the Apollo group of Hospitals. The hospital provides single labour, delivery and recovery rooms, electronic beds, ante-natal classes for pregnant women and hospital rooms which are actually suites.

On the other end are hospitals like Vaatsalyaa Healthcare which are promoting affordable healthcare in semi-urban and rural India. Vaatsalya provides primary and secondary care services with emphasis on prevention. Vaatsalya is one of the first hospital networks to concentrate on tier 2 and tier 3 cities in India. These two are the most notable start ups in healthcare in recent times. They are exactly at the opposite ends of the spectrum. Both have two things in common, they are on the net and are well connected to social networking and other web based networks. In addition, they have also attracted and generated a lot of investor interest. In other words, they both symbolise the birth of new age healthcare services across India.
