The healthcare space has the unique distinction of hosting an array of products and services that range from life saving therapies and drugs to beauty treatments and creams. The space includes peripheral services which fall under the category of maintaining and preserving health. There is a growing demand for such services, as the Indian urban population slowly graduates from consumption of essential health care services to life style services.

This is a rich area for harvesting as many start ups are discovering. Life mojo is a typical example of a company in the life style and information services space. Life mojo describes itself as a service which provides easy access to preventive health care experts and tracking tools. It provides a platform to preventive health care providers. The web site says Life mojo ” focuses on creating a platform for delivery of preventive health care services and partners with renowned health experts for their consultation”.

On the other hand start ups like Life smile India are into providing dietary supplements and nutritional products under the category of health care products, alongside their interest in other health care areas like bio technology and medical tourism.

Vaccimo, another novel start up in the information services space, is a health alert system that uses mobile telephony as an interface to connect to hospitals and patients. It also provides API’s to interact with existing hospital applications. Vaccimo communicates vaccination alerts, pet vaccine alerts, general health alerts and now recently medication alerts upon request from doctors. All communication is carried out through mobile SMSes along side web alerts (emails).
