About the Start Up:

Guruji is the first Indian search engine launched on 12th October, 2006. It was launched in Hindi, Telugu and Kannada too on the 9th of March, 2007. It was funded by a company called Sequoia Capital India which has invested for many other successful internet businesses globally too like Google, Yahoo, Paypal etc.and Angel Investors. Guruji.com is a search engine which is designed mainly keeping the Indian user in mind. For e.g. like if one types newspapers one will get a list of Indian newspapers. It has been divided on the basis of different Indian cities too like for e.g. if one types Hotels in Bangalore, one will get all the major hotels in Bangalore city.

Guruji.com has a gyaan section on it’s home page which is really true to it’s name. It really increases our ‘gyaan’ which means ‘knowledge’ in English and there is also ‘Guruji blog’ which is interesting to read.

The Founders:

Anurag Dod-Founder and Chief Executive Officer.

Anurag is not an amateur to start-ups. He was very much involved in starting up the Wisenut Search Engine as an Engineering Manager especially in developing its ‘Core Search Technology’. In 2002 Wisenut was taken over by Looksmart. He has also worked in the engineering departments of Ebay, Synopsis and Delsoft. He’s a product of IIT-Delhi with a B.Tech degree in Electrical Engineering. He had got the Summer Undergraduate Research Award while studying at IIT-Delhi. And if this is not enough, he also holds a Masters in Computer Science from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. Overall he has got 10+ years of experience.

Gaurav Mishra-Founder and Chief Operating Officer.

Gaurav has worked in top-notch software companies like Microsoft and Pillar Data Systems. His last job before getting involved with Guruji.com was with Intellisync which was later acquired by Nokia. Overall he has got 10+ years of experience in software development at different companies and he along with Anurag are the right ingredients for a start-up like Guruji.com.
