Startups in India – mGinger uses targeted advertising on mobile phonesName of the Firm: mGinger Introduction India-based startup, mGinger wishes to create a highly targeted platform for the consumers as well as the advertisers in mobile marketing. Consumers receive ads that are most relevant to them, and get paid for receiving them. The name mGinger is coined with m standing for mobile, and ginger to add to the tagline “spice up your mobile”. Business Description mGinger sends registered users advertisements in the form of SMS to their mobile phones. These advertisements consist of offers, vouchers, news etc in the areas of interest specified by users when they sign-up. They also specify the time when it is convenient to receive these advertisements. Users build the network by adding friends to the chain. Users are paid 20p for each advertisement they receive. They get 10p for every advert that a friend in the network receives. Users can monitor their earnings through a mini-statement on a dashboard, after logging in with a user name and password. Funding MGinger appears to be self-financed, and advertisers pay mGinger on a per message basis. About the entrepreneurs MGinger is the brainchild of three entrepreneurs. Chaitanya Nallan (CEO), who has over eight years of experience in software building technology focus groups, leading teams on multi-million dollar engagements and advising several Fortune 100 clients in US and Europe on technology roadmaps. He holds an MBA in enterpreneurship from Indian School of Business (ISB), and a B.Tech from IIT Kharagpur. Veerendra Shivhare (COO) has founded several companies and was a key player in start-ups in India and abroad. He is a B.E from REC Bhopal. Anil Sharma (CTO) has experience in architecting complex systems. He was instrumental in setting technology direction in several large companies. He has a bachelors degree (B.Tech) from IIT Kanpur.
