Blue Coat Announces 1st Series of Direct-to-Net Seminars following APAC Market Survey Results |
![]()
DELHI, September 17, 2008 - In this globalised era enterprises have become increasingly reliant on network architecture that successfully and securely supports distributed branch offices and remote users. One of the key challenges facing CIOs is how to manage branch office connectivity with today’s increased Internet traffic and demands on connectivity. A system of purely traditional WAN links can prove to be congested, inefficient and costly.
In fact, a recent market survey conducted by Blue Coat showed that 40% of companies in Asia Pacific already provide direct Internet access in branch offices – with nearly 85% of respondents wanting the same level of Internet protection and control in branch offices as in headquarters. In light of these findings Blue Coat has launched the region’s first Direct-to-Net Seminar series; with insights from IDC.
What does the future hold?
Increasingly, companies are turning to a Direct-to-Net approach to help manage and more effectively integrate the Internet into IT architectures to improve both communications and performance. Direct to the Net essentially allows branch offices and remote users to be connected directly to the Internet – with increasingly business-critical applications, outsourced applications, non-essential traffic and even data centres being fully Web-enabled.
Commenting on the region’s growth potential, IDC recent research indicated branch office technology spending is projected to grow at 12.5% in Asia Pacific Japan versus 8.2% for 2008 and 10% versus 8% for the same in 2009. These growth rates are substantially higher when compared to the overall IT spend (hardware, software/applications & services) growth of 5.4% and 6.3% for 2008 and 2009 respectively in Asia Pacific.*
