HP and WWF-India partner to launch Earth Hour 2009 in India

HP partners with WWF-India as the Green technology partner for Earth Hour 2009 to address the causes and consequences of climate change

Bangalore, March 16, 2009 - Hewlett-Packard (HP) today announced its partnership with the World Wide Fund for Nature-India (WWF) as the ‘Green Technology Partner’ for Earth Hour 2009- the global climate change campaign. HP will partner with WWF- India in support of the Earth Hour campaign to drive greater community awareness and action around behaviour affecting climate change, encouraging individuals and organizations to make a difference in the fight against global warming.

The Earth Hour 2009 is taking place on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 8.30pm in cities around the world including India.

During Earth Hour, millions of individuals and businesses will turn off their lights for one hour, demonstrating that by working together, we can all make a difference in the fight against climate change. HP will be turning off the lights in all HP site buildings in India for Earth Hour.

Mr. Ravi Singh, WWF India said, “Earth hour is a unique initiative with which we hope to raise awareness and encourage people to make energy reduction a priority.” He added, “Collaboration is essential in this regard. We are confident that our partnership with HP will help us make a powerful impact in educating others about climate change and energy efficiency.”
