Riverbed to Showcase the Serverless remote office at VMWorld 2008Pioneer in Wide-Area Data Services to Unveil the New Riverbed Services Platform Virtualized by VMware
BANGALORE – September 10, 2008 – Riverbed Technology (Nasdaq: RVBD), the technology and market leader in wide-area data services (WDS), today announced its participation at VMworld 2008, taking place Sept. 15 – 18 at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Now in its fifth year, VMworld is a must-attend event for all IT professionals looking for actionable ideas, innovative products and best practices for virtualizing the enterprise— from the desktop to the datacenter. In its booth (#1240), Riverbed® will showcase the enhanced features of its recently announced Riverbed Services Platform (RSP), a virtualized partition within the Riverbed Steelhead® appliances. Steelhead appliances accelerate the performance of applications between data centers, remote offices and mobile workers by five to 50 times and in some cases up to 100 times. Riverbed recently announced an OEM agreement to embed VMware’s technology as the preferred virtualization platform for the RSP. With VMware running on the Steelhead appliances, enterprises can further consolidate their IT infrastructure by running up to five remote office virtual edge services, without the need for separate dedicated servers. This approach will allow them to improve asset utilization, operational efficiency and business agility, while ensuring end-user satisfaction. Services currently available for deployment on the RSP include streaming media, print services and DNS/DHCP/IPAM. “Riverbed WDS makes it possible for companies to consolidate IT and improve backup and replication processes to ensure data integrity, while improving staff productivity and collaboration,” said Alan Saldich, vice president of product marketing and alliances. “Riverbed has over 4,500 customers that have deployed the award-winning Steelhead appliances. We are providing these customers with an avenue to further minimize the hardware infrastructure footprint at the branch office.”
