Volkswagen expands presence in North India

Appoints “Volkswagen Jaipur” and as its network partner in Jaipur

Jaipur, October 1, 2008 - Volkswagen India has marked its entry in Rajasthan by opening a new showroom in Jaipur.

Located in the heart of the city on Tonk Road, Volkswagen Jaipur showroom is spread over an area of 6,500 sq. ft. The showroom promises premium buying experiences for the customers, on par with any world-class Volkswagen standards of sales and services. Additionally, Volkswagen Jaipur is also setting up state-of-the-art service facility with tools and equipment capable of servicing 10 cars per day. The facility will be ready by mid October 2008.

Mr. Joerg Mueller, President and Managing Director, Volkswagen Group India said, “This is yet another milestone since our successful entry to India in 2007. With India’s appreciation of cars, a rich history of Volkswagen and a burgeoning economy, the Indian market has a healthy growth potential for us”.

The announcements come at a time when the company is witnessing an upsurge in demand from across the country and is building a plant in Chakan/Pune with a start of production in the year 2009.

Commenting on Volkswagen’s dealer network strategy Mr. Makham Dhalivaal, Managing Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India said “The level of interest in the Volkswagen brand in India has been very positive. We are delighted to inaugurate Volkswagen Jaipur. Rajasthan is an integral part of our growth strategy for Indian market. Volkswagen has a substantial growth plan in India which will further strengthen our operations. We are committed to the market for launching new products aggressively and we shall provide the very best, in order to meet the requirements of the Indian consumers.”

Volkswagen currently operates Franchises in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chandigarh and Ludhiana and now adds Jaipur, Cochin, Chennai and Ahmedabad. In the year 2008 Volkswagen aims to operate 15 outlets in India and will soon finalize its further network partners.
