PowerPoint Map: Topography of India

October 2009
1 slide

This PowerPoint presentation includes the following information contained on a single slide:

The Topography of India

The Indian landscape is vast and varied and distinctively marked by 3 broad features. Firstly, the Himalayas and associated ranges, a geologically young mountain belt, folded, faulted, and uplifted, that marks the nation's northern boundary and effectively seals India climatically from other Asian countries. Secondly, the Peninsula, a huge stable mass of ancient crystalline rock, severely weather-beaten and eroded.
Thirdly, the Ganges-Brahmaputra Lowland, a structural trough between the two rivers, now an alluvial plain carrying some of India's major rivers from the Peninsula and the Himalayas to the sea.

Some of the world's highest peaks are found in the northern mountains: Kanchenjunga (8,598 m/28,208 ft), the third-highest mountain in the world, is on the border between Sikkim and Nepal; Nanda Devi (7,817 m/25,645 ft), Badrinath (7,138 m/23,420 ft), and Dunagiri (7,065 m/23,179 ft) are wholly in India; and Kamet (7,756 m/25,447 ft) is on the border between India and Tibet.
This PowerPoint presentation will serve as a great teaching tool, especially for a subject like Geography. Use it as a standalone map, for a teaching class or to aid a quiz presentation.

The five major physical-economic zones in India:

• The Himalayas
• The Peninsula
• The Ganges-Brahmaputra Lowland
• The narrow coastal plain along the Arabian Sea
• The wide coastal plain along the Bay of Bengal

Simply "ungroup" the image and then you can use this useful tool to indicate locations, shopping malls, places of tourist interest (if you are a travel operator).

You can customize this map along with other data you wish to present. For example if you are presenting the population growth of certain states in India, you may highlight only those states.

You can pinpoint the location of small towns or villages that are not available on existing maps and can even pull out and separate the states you require to give even greater emphasis to your presentations.
