India imports nearly 80% of its electronic requirements. India is the largest market for electronic consumer goods. However, India has the lowest electronic production as percentage of GDP. It lags way behind the Chinese, South Korean and Taiwanese electronics industry.
The Indian electronic industry is pushing for a National Electronic Mission to develop the local electronics industry. The Government of Karnataka has recently announced the semiconductor policy to encourage start ups and attract investments to the state.
