According to the World Cellular Information Service, India constitutes 9% of the world 3G devices market. India and China add upto 18% of the world market. However, a consumer study by Ericsson ConsumerLab shows that Indians are still not aware of the 3G technology. According to the survey, 97% of 3G device users in India do not know about its features. On the other hand, the Chinese are fast adapting to 3G driven handsets for accessing the internet and other applications. The 3G device manufacturers are expecting the Indian market to boom as awareness levels improve.
